Bible quizzes can make learning interactive, but a good quiz does more than reward fast answers. It encourages participants to open Scripture, understand a story and talk about its meaning. Questions should be accurate, age-appropriate and clear about which passage supplies the answer. Here is a small quiz that families, Sunday school teachers and youth leaders can use as a starting point.
Ten Bible questions with answers
1. Where was Jesus born? Bethlehem (Matthew 2:1; Luke 2:4-7). 2. Who baptised Jesus? John the Baptist (Matthew 3:13-17). 3. How many disciples did Jesus appoint as the Twelve? Twelve (Mark 3:13-19). 4. Which Gospel begins with an account of the Word? John (John 1:1-18). 5. Who helped the injured traveller in Jesus' parable? A Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37).
6. Which Psalm begins with the Lord as a shepherd? Psalm 23. 7. Which disciple denied knowing Jesus three times? Peter (Luke 22:54-62). 8. Who met the risen Jesus near the tomb in John's Gospel? Mary Magdalene (John 20:11-18). 9. Which New Testament letter describes love as patient and kind? 1 Corinthians (chapter 13). 10. Which book describes the early church gathering for teaching, fellowship and prayer? Acts (Acts 2:42-47).
Turn recall into understanding
After giving an answer, ask a follow-up: Why does the Samaritan's response matter? What kind of shepherd is described in Psalm 23? How did Peter respond after his failure? This turns the quiz from a memory contest into a discussion of Christian character.
Allow children to find answers in the Bible rather than guessing under pressure. Different translations may use slightly different phrasing; focus on whether the answer accurately reflects the passage.
Make the activity accessible
Use teams if some participants are younger or less experienced. Read questions aloud and provide a text option for people who cannot hear easily. Avoid making anyone feel spiritually inferior for giving a wrong answer. The goal is curiosity and confidence.
BICC Zimbabwe already maintains a Creative Hub featuring Bible-learning activities. An article can connect readers to those existing resources rather than duplicating the entire games platform.
A challenge for the next session
Invite each participant to write one question based on a passage read during the week. Require the question writer to include a Scripture reference and check the answer. Over time, you can build a carefully reviewed collection organised by age group and theme.
